Me and my dolls!

Hello world! I've decided to start a blog about one of my favorite hobbies, as you may have guessed by the title..... DOLL COLLECTING!! I've been lurking at other doll collectors websites and decided to go on ahead and try at my own. I have already amassed over 300 dolls just in the past 2 years, and my collection is growing everyday!! The types of dolls that I currently like to collect are Barbies and her friends. Some I've gotten from thrift stores and others from toy stores, or on line. However, MOST of my collection is mostly from the thrift. When I get them home, I clean them up real good with a nice bubble bath and shampoo. Then I dress them, style their hair, and display them. I used to do photostories with my dolls, which I'm planning to start doing again real soon. Well....enough yappin. If you're like me, You probably prefer visuals over text, soooo....here's what I've got!!

Let's start with my doll collection of the Mattel line of Happy Family. I have many Happy Family Midges, both AA and Caucasian versions. At one point last year, the thrift had TONS of them and I felt obligated to buy them. I have 2 more Caucasian one's laying around somewhere. I also have both of the Caucasian grandparents and one of the AA grandparents. I have the grandfather. I've ordered the AA grandmother this week and am expecting her to arrive any day now. Next, I have the Happy Family Neighbor female doll. BOTH were thrifted!! I only wish I could find her husband.

Let's take a look at my Townhouse.(an early Xmas present to myself) Residing in the new Barbie townhouse are all my Asian Barbies. ALL of these were thrifted as well. Some of these dolls are Dolls of the World. One day I plan on sewing them all up some really nice Kimonos. I've already got the fabric, and just need a pattern. Anyone know where to get one or know an easy way to make one?

Now I must let you guys know that last year at some point during the summer I was REALLY into all the Barbie play sets. My dream was to have an actual Barbie city, complete with a mall, hair salon, restaurant, homes, doctors and dentist offices, etc. I still DO want that!! But unfortunately I don't have the space for all that just yet. Gotta wait until my kids leave the nest or either get a bigger home. But anyway, I got a lot of Barbie play sets. I got an ice cream parlor, a beauty salon, McDonald's, etc. Here's some of the girls and guys hanging out!

Now here are most of my favorite Barbies. Most of them have the Model Muse body,which is o.k. if you just want to display your collection. However, if you want your dolls in action, they're not very versatile in that respect.

I do splurge every once in a while and spend what I consider to be big money on my dolls, but not often. I have 1 childhood favorite doll that I splurged on. She's the Pink and Pretty Christie. I just recently deboxed her. She's still as gorgeous as I remember.

I also have ALLL the Generation Girls. Ana needs a reroot. One day I'll get to it. I have their high school too.

I also have a small collection of the Dolls of the World. I must admit they're my favorite to collect. Currently I want the Spain DOTW. Another one that I really want is the vintage Hispanic Barbie. I remember seeing her in Sears when I was a little girl and being mesmerized by her. When I asked my mom if she would buy her for me, she said no. I WILL get her VERY soon. I WILL.

I also have a decent selection of celebrity dolls. I have Beyonce, Brandi, most of the cast from the show 90210, all the high school musical kids, the Spice Girls, Donny and Marie Osmond.

Did I mention that I collect G.I. Joes too? Well , I do. Here they are.

I got 3 new dolls today. One from the thrift and the other two from Toys "R" Us. O.k. I'm REALLLLLY excited by these finds today. I got the LAST Chandra and Darren from the So In Style line. These are the Roca Wear dolls. I already had the first 3 girls, so now I have the complete collection!! How kewl is that!!? VERY!! Well I could go on and on and on. But I just felt like blogging and now I'm gonna play with my dolls before I have to do the grind tomorrow. Ciao!!
